Well-balanced nutrition that includes all food groups is essential for children’s normal growth and development. Junk food and other over-processed foods, as well as food loaded in sugar and/or additives, like cakes, chocolates and other sugary treats should not be consumed on a daily basis. It is almost impossible to completely ban them, but you can try to limit them to occasional treats. Unlike most of the junk/over-processed food that you can recognize and simply stop buying, sugar and salt, as basic ingredients, are all around, contained in so many foods and products, which make it difficult to keep track on them. In this regard, we want to highlight the importance of following your child’s daily intake of sugar and salt. The continual overload of the body with sugar and salt highly increases the risk of getting serious chronic diseases, like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, kidney failures, hormonal misbalance and other metabolic disorders.
I've been into healthy eating for many years, but developed a more profound interest in nutrition and related diseases when I started reading The China Study and other special books on nutrition. After being in real estate and hospitality business for more than 10 years I decided to totally change my path to spread the word about healthy and sustainable nutrition and lifestyle. I am also a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate graduate from eCornell. I hope you enjoy my whole food plant-based recipes and practical tips!
